Drywall Defects

Drywall defects can be both visible and hidden.  Visible defects include unsightly cracking on the walls and ceilings of your home associated with improper drywall installation.  Hidden drywall defects includes the installation of water damaged and moldy drywall into homes (as shown in the adjoining photograph), the utilization of "Chinese Dyrwall" which contains harmful substances and chemicals, and even overnailing the drywall sections in violation of the building code.

The repair of drywall defects is not simple.  The root cause of the damage must be determined. "Caulking" and paint will not solve the problem permanently.  In fact, the permanent repair of drywall defects often requires the relocation of the homeowners during repair due to the fumes and mess created.

Drywall cracks are not "normal", despite what your builder may say to dissuade you from pursuing repairs. Further, drywall cracks may also be a symptom of other defects in your home, including framing defects and water damage.  Proper investigation by a knowledgeable professional will determine the nature and extent of your drywall defects and damage and will help determine whether your drywall cracks may be a symptom of even bigger problems.

Don't ignore your drywall cracking.  You deserve a home free of defects.  If your home has suffered from drywall defects and related damage, don't attempt to deal with the builder on your own.  Contact Judd J. Balmer, Esq., Ltd., right away to protect your home, your rights, and your family.
